They attracted vermin to our streets!
When they’d finished bouncing fruit down our streets, the messy film crew did little to clean up. Fruit rots quickly and attracts all manner of vermin. In fact, Margaret Jones reported seeing a fight between a rat and a pigeon over a Granny Smith at the bottom of Cambridge Street.

The carnage affected livelihoods
Aled Edwards’ taxi was covered in sticky pulp in the incident, causing him to be late for work that evening. He asked us “What kind of a world do we live in where fresh fruit is needlessly lobbed down streets like this.” The only consolation we could give him was that a small amount of fruit was recovered and donated to Bryn Mynydd monkey sanctuary.

Sarah's uninvited guest
You don’t realise the damage a watermelon can do until one is hurled at your window. Sarah Evans was at home at the time the melon came through the glass (followed by a few lemons), and captured the devastation on her mobile phone. You may be able to make out a number of broken figurines amongst the debris and juice (which has left a large, pink stain). Sarah was still sobbing when we spoke to her, saying that if she’d wanted several pounds of fruit in her home she “would have gone to the market.”

They soiled the Edwards’ doorstep
It’s the little things like Huw Edwards’ window boxes that turn a street into a community. However, there was NOTHING CIVIC-MINDED about what the film crew did to his terracotta pots. Clearing up the mess, Huw was defiant “I will be consulting my lawyers. Best part of twenty quid that lot cost me.”
